Routine Work

I awaken to a pitch black void.
Nothing in front of me, with the exception of my own two hands.
I try to make sense of what's going on when a voice speaks out to me

???: Heh-hey! You've finally woken up.

I can't pinpoint which direction the voice is coming from.
I look to my left and see nothing.
But to my right I see a girl sitting near me with her legs crossed
She looks really weird... She has these furry looking things on the top of her head.

???: It seems my ears have gotten your attention. Do you fancy them?

Those are ears?!
She must not be human.
Well, I don't think anything that's in here, besides myself, is human for that matter.

???: Hey, hey, there's no need to go getting surprised over these! But you're right about one thing. I'm not human. I'm a kitsune, or a fox girl, if u will.

A... fox girl?
Does she expect me to believe that?
On second thought, it would explain the ears and tail...

???: Man, you really went all out back there, huh? I was watching you the whole time. You're really amazing for a mere human!

I'm starting to get uneasy...
She was watching me fight?
Wait a second, where AM I exactly?!

???: Haha, you're just now noticing? You're in what I believe you humans call... the afterlife. Yeah, that's it, right?

The afterlife?! Does this mean I'm dead?!

???: Yep that's right. That last battle had you exhaust of all life energies. It's a shame, but, at least you died nobly, Mr. -*static*-

What? How does she know my name? I've never met her before...
Someone must be screwing with me or something.

???: Well, I guess it's time for business.

She snaps her fingers and the pitch black void illuminates.
We're in this huge chamber like area with a single door leading out of it.
After that she stands up and walks a few steps away.

???: So, Mr. -*static*- You've done a great amount of deeds in your lifetime. But, let me ask you a question. Are you... satisfied?

What the hell kind of question is that?
I just want to get back home...

???: By the look on your face, I take it you're not... Ah well. I would give you a chance to get rid of your regrets, but sadly, that's not my job.

Job? This is her job?
I want an explanation...

???: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Yuuko Sanada. Just call me Yuuko.

Yuuko, huh? She seems to be responsible for all of this.

Yuuko: My job entails me to take the souls of certain people and reincarnate them. Although, from your point of view, I may as well just be a Grim Reaper,
coming to claim your soul~ I'd make a pretty sexy Grim Reaper, dontcha think?

Answer:

   Tch. No...

I hate to admit it, but she does look quite attractive.

Yuuko: You've got good tastes in women, I see~ Maybe I should become a Grim Reaper and take your soul as my first~

That doesn't sound very... prefferable...

Yuuko: Now, back to the matter at hand... You don't have to just roll over and resign to your fate. That would be boring. Although, it does make my job a lot harder...

You mean to tell me there's a way out of this?

Yuuko: You have two choices; You can just be a good boy and let me do my job, Orrrrr.....

Answer:
   Let her take my soul...
> Or...?

She's giving me an alternative?
If there's a way out of this, I'll take it.
No matter the difficulty.

Yuuko: Or... you can throw down with yours truly. I may not look it, but I can fight well, Do you still wanna go at it?

Answer:
> Yes!
   No...

Yuuko: I like your conviction! You're a real man, huh? Alright then! it's a battle to the death. Haha! Just kidding! I can't kill you because... well... you're already dead. And there's no way in hell you can manage to kill me!

Her words strike me as cocky. She's not even giving me the benefit of the doubt...
I'll show her.

Yuuko: Slow down there, guy! Do you expect to attack me unarmed? Here, itfs an exact copy of your weapon.

She creates what looks like the last weapon I held in my hands.
Upon holding it, I feel a rush of confidence. I can do this!

Yuuko: Alright, -*static*-! Come!

*insert fight scene here*

I...got beaten?... But I put up such a good fight... and for me to lose... I guess my strength wasn't enough to grant me a second chance...

Yuuko: Whew! You almost had me there! Honestly, out of all of the fights like this that I've had, you've come the closest.

That's a little... comforting...

Yuuko: Well it's time. Let's get this over with- Hey! don't go crying on me now!

I hadn't even noticed it, but, tears are flowing down face. I guess even someone like me
can do something like this.

Yuuko: Tch. No good... This isn't gonna work like this... I'm gonna have to fix this.

She kneels down, lifts my upper body, and pushes my head into her chest with a warm embrace.
All I can do is sob.

Yuuko: It's no good if your soul falls into despair at the last second. It'll make the next host all rotten inside. Now, get it all out. I'll be here~

I never thought she was capable of such motherly gestures. I guess I pegged her wrong.
Her embrace saps away all of my despair.

Yuuko: Come on, a man like you should be going out with a smile!

I raise my head from her chest and give her a healthy smile.

Yuuko: There ya go! Just like that!

I chuckled a bit, thinking that I just may have found peace. In that instant my entire body begins to glow.

Yuuko: Look's like our time is up. It was very fun and interesting. No point in saying goodbye even if you won't remember me, so, see ya later, -*static*-.

???: ... ... ... Yeah...

-The glowing intensified then formed into a white flame-

Yuuko: Ah, its bright glow. To think, this almost went pitch black with despair.

???: You save his soul at the last moment.

-The only door in the chamber opens up. A girl with green hair walks in-

Yuuko: Oh, Senna, It's you! What's going on?

Senna: I came to see how you were doing, but, I got to see something rare and beautiful!

Yuuko: Huh? And that was...?

Senna: I've never seen you show such tender emotions and gestures like that before! It was so heartwarming~ I was nearly brought to tears myself.

Yuuko: H-hey, I was just making sure his soul didn't go corrupt with despair. You know how bad that turns out if it happens.

Senna: But still, It was so unlike you~ It's like my Yuuko is growing ever so steadily.

Yuuko: Gahh! That's enough with this. I've gotta go send this guy's soul into-

Senna: Hm? Is something wrong?

Yuuko: ... Actually, I think I'll hold on to it instead. Let's go, Senna. I'm starving.

Senna: *light chuckle* But before we eat, there's something I need to do.

Yuuko: What's that?

Senna: It's.... This!

Yuuko: AAH! LET GO OF MY TAIL DAMMIT!!

Senna: Nuh-uh.

Yuuko: S-s-stop it. You know what this does!
